Resistance

"a measure of a material's ability to resist the flow of electric current ."

Unit & Abbreviation:

R: 1 Ohm = 1 Volt / Ampere

Specific Resistance | Resistivity:

Resistance of unit length and unit cross-sectional area of a material.

Use: Resistivity we use to compare the resistance of different materials. Like Silver is less resistive than Copper.

Example: Resistivity of Silver is 1.59*10^-8 ohm-m and Copper is 1.68*10^-9 ohm-m.

Unit & Abbreviation:

Series Resistance:

Series Key Idea: The current is the same in each resistor by the current law.

Parallel Resistance:

Parallel Key Idea: The voltage is the same across each resistor by the voltage law.

Voltage Divider:

Series Key Idea: The current is the same in each resistor by the current law.
